Music videos that influenced me.

Overall narrative of our video is to present the ups and downs of the relationship between Josie's and Daniel's character but that it all gets too much for her and she decides to leave but there is a twist at the end. My personal choice of music videos that influenced are idea are the following:

''Black Heart'' is a song from the British girl-group Stooshe. It deals with the issues of being in a relationship with a cheating lover. The video presents Stooshe as a girl group from the Sixties on the set of a television show. It shows band member Alexandra Buggs in a relationship with the host of the television show and him cheating on her with an assistant. One of the other members, Karis Anderson mentioned "There was a guy I was with for about six years and he broke my heart. When he hears the song he'll realise it's about him. Like with Adele's album, it's obvious to that person. We were all thinking about exes during the performance as it was important it was heartfelt. Everyone's been through a broken heart, so we can all relate to this song in particular." The reason I saw this as an influence for our idea is because Taylor Swift songs are mainly based on relationship themes and also happen to be obvious. However, we did not take on the genre which is a ballad with a "Motown-esque" feel about it. One music critic said the video for ''Black Heart'' is a homage to The Supremes.

''Call Me Maybe'' is a song recorded by the Canadian singer-songwriter Carley Rae Jepsen. Lyrically, the track brings attention to the trouble that a love at first sight brings to a girl who eagerly waits for a call back from the boy. The video presents Jepsen as falling for her neighbour only to find out at the end he reveals, by handing over his phone number, his attraction to a male band member  According to the director Knechtel, the main idea behind the narrative was to have a "twist at the end", trying to pull away from the idea of the classic "boy meets a girl" story which is similar to our idea but our twist doesn't end on a light note like in 'Call Me Maybe'.

''We Found Love'' is a song recorded by the American singer Rihanna. I saw it influencing our storyline as the video portrays both love and hate scenes as they face difficulties in their relationship. After enduring the extreme effects of recreational drug use and physical violence, she leaves her boyfriend finding she's had enough of the relationship.

Intertexuality.

John Stuarts theory of intertextuality is how a music video is ''incorporating, raiding and reconstructing.''

It is about using a symbol which the audience may already recognise to create something they have remembered over a long period of time or even new meanings. It's probably more noticeable in the music video than in any other media form, with the exception of advertising.

In the example below, Maroon 5's video 'Moves Like Jagger' includes intertextuality as it includes The Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger who made an appearance in the music video via archive footage. The reason for this was that Maroon 5 wanted to expose the rock legend to a new generation of fans. Levine even told MTV News ' We were lucky enough to get Mick's endorsement [for the video], as far as him giving us access to a bunch of different footage.' For the new generation the footage will be rare as to the older, dedicated fans of The Rolling Stones some will recognise it and will activate their memory.

Meeting (2)

23/1/13: Today we met up at break to discuss the start of the filming of the narrative in Beverly Park. The other part of the meeting we spoke about what anciliary products we would create. Apart from digipaks, we decided to do a website also as a group but because we couldn't agree with what template to use we then came to the conclusion we do our own websites. We also decided if we were going to use some of the location shots for the anciliary products but then agreed to do a seperate photoshoot later on for the anciliary photos.

Location shots (1)

Today (22/1/13) we began filming our new idea on in Richmond Park. It was the first set of shots of Josie singing.

Meeting (1)

21/1/13: Today we had a meeting to do with filming our new idea. We used sticky notes to help us put the scenes in order before going straight into doing the storyboard as from previous experience our ideas got confusing and muddled up. As it's only Taylor Swift singing the song 'Sparks Fly' we decided to take Olivia out of the idea so there is only one female and one male protagonist in the narrative. We decided we would go period 4 to film in Richmond park for Josie's performance as her friend, Danniel wouldn't be around for the narrative as he doesn't have a free then.
